Our Story
Born in craft.
Carried across oceans.
KALAKARI started with a simple frustration — why was it so hard to find a bold kurti that felt like you? Not a compromise, not a costume. Something made with care, rooted in tradition, cut for the life you actually live.
We are a small brand built by the diaspora, for the diaspora. Every piece is designed for Pardesh and handcrafted by artisan workshops at Home — places where block printing, Bandhani, and Kalamkari are not trends, they are heritage.

“I wore this to a Diwali party in Toronto and got stopped five times asking where I got it. The block print is so delicate — nothing like the mass-produced stuff you find at Gerrard Street.”

“Finally a kurti that actually fits properly and doesn't look like it was made for someone else's body. The fabric is lightweight, perfect for our Vancouver summers. I ordered two more.”
Kavya R.

“My nani saw me wearing this on a video call and got emotional — she recognized the Bandhani pattern from her village in Gujarat. That's exactly what I wanted. A piece of home.”
